Reiki is a wonderful tool for self-transformation and healing others. Rei, may be translated as 'universal transcendental spirit, a boundless essence'. Ki, translates as 'life force energy'.

A Reiki practitioner transmits life energy through their hands to the recipient, activating the body's natural ability to heal. Each cell in the body has its own consciousness or energy field. This vital energy is what makes us alive and conscious beings.

Reiki is unlike a massage although the affects are usually similar. Massage is muscle manipulation. Reiki is alignment within through the exchange of energy.

A Reiki practitioner cannot direct the Reiki energy to cure specific body organs or illnesses. A practitioner can give extra attention to diseased parts of the body and can also be used as a first-aid treatment. However, it is important that Reiki is not used as a substitute for orthodox medical treatment.
